Building Block School for the Arts Application

Ms Lainey is brand new to us, but her talent and skill goes way back. She’s been dancing classically since she was a toddler and missed having that connection. She’s teaching ballet, Jazz, and Tap for all ages! (even Ms Sherry’s age!)

Already Lainey has impressed us with her choreography in our first ever full school production of “Nutcracker Musical”. Her dancers were beautiful and added a classical touch to our adaptation.

Ms Sherry: Founding Director

Children’s Theatre Director

Mr Drew: Music Teacher

Ms Milly: is joining us brand new this year as we expand! She’s teaching primary students on Ms Ann’s day off as well as some theatre - she just wrote and directed her first original play as well as directed “Outsiders” last spring.

Milly is a graduate of BBSA and current Music student at CSCC. She also teaches Ukulele!

We have been blown away by her creativity and talent.

Who We Are

This isn’t just a business—it’s a reflection of what we believe in. We’re here to create work that matters, Ignite sparks for purpose and passion in our students, and lead by a shared commitment to quality and care.

We opened our doors in August of 2016, but the vision began a few years earlier. Sherry Johnson, our Founding Director, began teaching drama classes around southern middle Tennessee in community organizations. She also began teaching in a home school tutorial that focused on kids who needed to “do” to learn. We began seeing success in integrating the arts into our academics.

When the drama classes became too many, and the request for more shows became high, we decided to find a permanent location.

Here we are! Bringing arts education to Columbia TN.

Ms Mikayla: Middle School HSA and Dance Teacher

Mikayla recently joined us as our Boundless Moves dance instructor. She fit in so quickly, we promoted her to Middle School HSA and she continues to impress us both in dance and academics. Mikayla started dance at a young age and continued through high school, winning competitions in Ballroom and other genre’s. She is a former Disneyland performer and we could not be more excited to have her experience and knowledge as a part of our cast.

Ms Ann: Primary Teacher HSA

Ann comes to us as a retired Special Education Teacher. She has quickly caught onto how we learn and become one of our favorites!

Ann is a local professional artist and can be seen selling her creations at local craft fairs and first Friday’s. She has blessed us immensely with her talent and love for the kids.
